I bought the Yaris for the aforementioned reasons, it's reliable, cheap to run and there's no temptation at all to spend any money doing it up. It's gonna cop floormats and window tint, and that's it! I also chose it because being a Toyota it has a very high quality of fit and finish, and for the money it really is a bargain.

I didn't choose a Supra, Starlet or Corolla for the simple reason that I wanted a new car. I nearly did go for an Ascent, but after driving them both it was clear to me which was the better car.

Devaluation isn't a high price to pay for the reliability. 3 year old 5 door hatch Echo's are still around $15000 in Perth, hell there's even some 6 year old 3 doors selling for $12000! Won't be as big a drop as say, a Getz or Accent.

Not the Landcruiser. Maybe the Hilux in 377cid twin turbo Chev form, but not the bloody Cruiser! Working at a Toyota dealership means I get to test drive a whole host of cars, and I can honestly say the Yaris sedan is a standout from the crowd. Also, in making the decision to buy the Yaris the key thing that swung me was the test drive. Not the test drive of the Yaris, but the test drive of the Impreza. No point in paying all that extra dosh to get the Subaru IMHO.

Next new car might be a Subaru, provided there's a good model on the market. I don't have $40,000 to blow on a new car at the moment, so Subaru's essentially out of the running.

Furthermore, I challenge any of you to get out there and drive a Yaris. I'm not trying to convert you, hell I'm a Subaru fanatic through and through, but the Yaris is a nice little buzzbox that's surprisingly comfy.

Yes, I will be keeping the EJ20G powered wagon too. I really need to update my sig :P

Nothing wrong with a toyota mate. I got one :D. I'm waiting for when the cruiser ute gets the twin turbo V8 diesel. I reckon I'd look good in one of them lol.

That's not that far away.... early next year I beleive.

Rumour around the place is indeed a 4.4 litre twin turbo common rail diesel V8 with nearly 600nm! I beleive the 1HD and possibly the 1HZ will continue as base models, although there's conflicting info about this...

Can't wait to flog a manual one around the carpark! LOL.
