Transfer Fees

Post by RSR 555 » Wed Mar 31, 2010 6:18 pm

Hi all..

I was just talking with a friend and this subject has come up a few times but now I'm thinking of doing something about it (writing to the local minister) about the costs of transfer fees. Here in WA and I'm hoping it's the same all over Aus? the fee charged is $30 per $100. Now this to me seems way too high in todays market (I know wages have gone up too) but I'm just curious to know what the percentages are between todays fees/wages to say like 30 years ago?

Any ideas?

Where did you get 30% from? 3% is more like it.

For example what happens if you get a car for free? Do you still have to pay for a transfer fee?

The fee is charged at what the market value price no matter what you get the car for. On the transfer form you have to put both the price you paid and the market value, if they believe you have mislead them, you could be hit with a fine :(
