Seen B& M up close, seen a Mario trailer in the distance, and they are getting cheaper. $750

Anyone know these Sydney made trailers and make any suggestions as who or not to buy from?

It does seem worth paying a bit extra to go for ''heavy duty 750 kg GVM (trailer is about 220, so about 500kg payload) to get that built in peace of mind in case I do get to load up 500kg on the back of my Subies tow bar.

Heavy duty is also 5 leaf spring so may bounce around more than I care, but I can change springs after if needed, checker guards and floor.

NONE seem to use decent hinges or even make good ones out of rod and tube, nor removeable gates - how hard is that ?

The differences between makers appears to be draw bar sizes and whether SHS , RHS or angle is used in chassis sections.

Rolled guards look better than cut and folded, and the checker plate looks sexy and bit of grip should the guard actually hold half me weight should it need to be stepped on.

One will accuse the other of using down grade steel but suspect they all do! Funny how one maker has por off square cuts, dusty paint finish so not best protected, visible dings n RHS on display model and slow customer service so they are not even mentioned here or getting another look in.

Your comments.....

Some have very dusty hammertone paint finish, poorly cut shs bits visible. been told if I ordered one raw so I can paint it myself it will come rusty - think they are rusty under the hammertone to begin with!
Hey - pity your not up here! We have some ACE trailers made in UK top quality and fully galvanised really rugged made.
Suggest that you look for rubber chord suspension type (maybe known as Indespension over there) We used to manufacture trailers here and I can tell you that this type of Suspension rides smoother and wont crack or snap if it hits a bump with little or no load on them like a cart spring can.
Capacities from 250kgs right the way upto 3000kgs and more!
There are even 'superide' designs which are developed for super smooth bounce free ride.
Google Indespension or Avonride or peak and have a look at the suspensions.
Maybe make your own - its straight forward enough.
Google Indespension, Bateson or Wessex or Ifor Williams but these are cart sprung for some ideas if your interested.
best of luck!

Thanks Giles, I'll look that up. It will usually be get what you paid for, and my bet is most components will be made in China or India. I did consider making my own and a welder I know put me off the idea by showing me what he had bought as a fixer and what it cost him and what he had in the end - churn 'em out like sausages he said of the factories here - funny , as his landlord is a sausage king, and not every sausage looks the same :) . Big hardware joint had gal trailers at $800 , but I missed them completely - was a coastal branch not local. The non bounce rubber suspension is worth a look but never seen on a trailer probably not Australain design rule compliant. Always wortth looking into before buying new , without the rush.
