justify my spending.....

I am trying to justify some of my spending on car parts, tools etc in order to keep a few crs on the road at the same time. Spend on old cars so not paying off a new car likely to depreciate but give good servce for many years negating excuse to have a second car (who said three?) If one should accidentally stop or need repair I use the other(s) until ready to fix again. Otherwise it would be pushbike which ends up a bit slow and well lets face it a hard slog, or taxi @$2 a kilometre, bus ? not been on one since I was fifteen (distant memory) taxi ? many smell of curry or BO :(

Buy if parts become available that I may need some day or there is a saving - giving me a reason to need to kep with the old cars, cheap to buy, fix and maintain, register and insure (oh! for $40 regos like in the US ! I WISH )

Seems to be an almost weekly thing that I do something or buy something for a car - time to log an account I think.

OK, so it is my vice. I may sound, correction, I do sound boring, don't smoke (how much a pack of fags now? $15) , coffee has always burnt my mouth so that is out, and have always though al ka hol is better burnt by a combustion engine not human body

Any comparos as to how much people spend on smokes, grog , coffees or loose women?
Hey Mark, I was wide awake when I made last two purchases - not late night tellymercials :)

Well Jonno
Smokes cost me prob $16 a day plus a massive cost on health (smokers are suckers in more ways than one )
Grog prob carton and a half aweek cost around the $60 mark depending on specials
Coffee costs me nothing at work (very nice grind the boss supplies ;-) )
Fuel and rego - just nasty
and if my darling other half buys one more fish tank we are goin to have to give up everything to pay the power bills !!! $1200 this quarter !!!

I had the same problem with my last L series, seemed like i had my hand in my pocket every week, where as apart from scheduled servicing and tyres, i havent spent a cent on the Outback (apart from a radiator)

But recently i have been gearing up for converting the RX to EJ20G, i seem to be spending over a hundred a week (on average)

Though in saying that, i dont smoke, im lucky to drink 3 stubbies a week and my only real cost is house repayments and rates.
So i figure that i'll substitute what other people spend on grog and ciggies, by spending money on my car.

I tell myself I am investing in my future transport - all old Subies :) - instead of what next, looking, looking, haggling, oh yeah $TAMP DUTY, on newer car, still buying a car someone sold to save spend more on it.... I'll still be here in ausubaru in ten years time - happy as an old man in a Brumby !!
So, if I keep a cost journal on each beast and average it out over the past ten years in ten years time...... I'll need another three door handles on the Brumby for sure :)
