Dilema

Post by FROG » Wed Jul 27, 2011 8:00 pm

Been looking at the the Blue targa top Brumby on the lot at work everyday, for months and drooling , when the workshop forman hits me up to go halves and spend some time and money throwing in a 2.5 turbo , drive train, brakes etc etc ....
Image
should be able to do it nice on the weekends and after work
will have access to handily equipped workshop :D

please convince me to do it (heart says yes but I have a few concern$$$$$)

vbclassified.php?do=ad&id=1581#

I have a soft spot for this particular Brumby
I got to drive five hours to deliver a new ute to the last but one owner 8 years ago and was presented with the Blue Brumby with wire hanging out of all four tyres as the trade in and my ride for the next 500 klms  the owner proudly showing me the TWO SPARE rims in the back in the same condition so I have a cup of tea while we sign papers and I take a deep breath and start driving back home, 8pm by now, so I get on the Hay plains get the poor tyres up to 100klms/hr and sure enough pop a tyre :???: sighs to self at the inevitable , pull over hop out and surveys the damage, choose the best of the two spares in the back, hmm okay open bonnet and scope for jack, hmm not in its place, search Brumby okay no jack - find jack handle behind seat ! bonus ! 9pm at night, Hay plains, no jack, nice clear starry night - fantastic to see how many stars- no traffic - sigh could be a long night - ah well nice stars, Im literally gawking at the sky and not overly worried about my predicament when I turn around I get headlights and a champion lad and his wife pull over and save the day  I get home at 1a.m. ,love the country life :D get up in the morning to find she's piddled oil all down my driveway :D
many thanks to Lionel Garner and his wife -most excellent and famous shearer from Hay

should I, shouldn't I ?

DON'T DO IT!

Just give it to me

I don't know about going part ownership in a car - that could get very complicated! Best to do it yourself or have your mate do it on their own.

Maybe layby terms of payment from the boss while it sits in the yard? Would still be a good draw card for enticing people to the yard...

I'd love to have that unit in my collection of subis - and I'd want to do exactly what you're talking about too!

Cheers

You know you should, should not discuss with the better half until it is too late maybe?

Now has it been sitting in the yard eight years or has it returned once again?

Concern$ may be alleviated if you went for more practical EJ20 NA

There's not practicality in an NA EJ20 if you're after the turbo boost!

Besides, it would be a very practical brumby, it's still a ute after all.

Or the other way to go about it is do what Gee did with his brumby - single cam EJ25, short gear ratios, 4.11 ratio diffs, front and rear LSDs, lowered on a crossbred kit with some extra rear diff bracing to eliminate the torque twist that occurs. That was one stupidly quick brumby! And the only vehicle I've felt the skin on my face physically move backwards through first and second gear!

Good times!

Cheers

Andy, How are you going to slip the subaextreme bullbar and the "new to the family" brumby as well??

That'll be a challenge!

Cheers

No connection between a Brumby for sale and a bull bar also for sale - Andy or Dom is an agent for......

Andy may be waiting for a price drop on the Brumby while he toys with idea
