I'm a dad!!

Post by Alex » Tue Oct 11, 2011 8:05 am

Hey guys, as most of you are aware, my partner and I were expecting our first little terror.

Sofia Marie Hendrika Krynen was born yesterday evening at 5.35pm. The due date was sunday the 10th so she came out almost dead on time. She is super healthy coming in at 3.6kg with a serious set of hair and only some minor bruising on her forehead and upper arms from mums pelvis.

This all started on Friday night when she felt afew twinges from the baby, continuing over the whole weekend with a contraction every 5-25mins. It was extremely irregular. We had a scheduled appointment with the midwife yesterday morning and everything checked out perfect but they turned us home with the 'bitchy' midwives not wanting to push along the pregnancy.

2pm yesterday and i knew things were turning, these were real contractions now and scared the fjck out of me, by 2.30pm i had stacey in the bath with constant very painful contractions at 4mins apart. We jumped in the outback where i turned a 25-30min drive to the hospital into a 19minute thrashing (the old ej25 in the outback pulls a nice amount of power when needed) by the time we got to the hospital at 3.15pm the contractions were not even 1minute apart.

Got her into a wheel chair and strait up to the labour ward. After about another 15mins we had three midwives and a doctor ready to make the catch. They described the pregnancy as textbook, it couldnt get any better. Stacey was fully dilated upon arrival at 10cm and ready to push. By 5.30pm the baby was out and by 5.35 the placenta was out when i got to umbilical cord.

Im so proud of my girl, she had no pain relief and did it all the oldschool way.

So, now the fun starts, hopefully mum and Sofia will be home by thursday ready to start our new lives.

Still cant believe i have a little family of my own (got afew tears as i write this)

I will get some photos up shortly.

alex, one proud father.

Congrat's mate, sometimes it's not all bad, both mine were perfect, slept pretty much all night from the start and never got sick.

Thankyou very much for all the kind words guys.

My two girls will be coming home tomorrow. Can't wait! A man gets lonely in an empty house at night.

Life starts now. I've never felt such ecstasy. Loading Sofia into the outback for the first time should be interesting !

Yeah it sure is. A Stanley felt so delicate it was so hard to place him in a seat and do the buckle up, because I was scared I would injure him. It gets much easier the more you do it and the older they get.

Just be careful not to hit her head on the window glass on the way out, Ive done it once and felt like a right idiot
