stupidly large signatures

Post by Alex » Sat Oct 15, 2011 8:55 am

Guys,

I know I don't have the smallest signature around but I think some of you are getting a little out of control with multicoloured large distracting fonts and over the top sized pictures.

Some not even relavent for a signatures intended purpose.

Please discuss your thoughts on this

the huge coloured tex ones are annoying especially when reading the forum from phone
Im sure there was something about that in the forum rules (which I read when I joined a few years ago - maybe one of our newer members could refresh)

Well look who's all grown up now they have a kid

Just kidding Alex.. It does make it a bit annoying for smart phones but some people paint their car parts multi coloured and others do it here. Maybe look at the forum rules as Andy has mentioned..

Yeah I agree.

I like having signatures, but maybe we should limit them to say, 4 normal font size lines of text, and images with a maximum height of 150 pixels, and a width of 800 pixels.

May I suggest that if the size is indeed limited to a set pixel x pixel size then a link to a FREE resizing is also posted with the sticky so that non-technical people can easily resize their images.

I have the ability to remove and modify signatures as you're probably aware Jules :-)

Large signatures make navigation difficult with and mobile device

yep I understand completely When I was a moderator on share or die (long since gone) the rule was 300 pixels long by 80 pixels tall and no bigger.

Is mine ok?

How about a program that automatically resizes the signature to the correct size when you submit it? Would be pretty easy for an IT techy type to do it

I would of thought that D_Generate's is about a good size for the maximum. The major issue I have with small ones like 80x150 pix is that you can't read the images and/or writting.
I think mines is to tall but only just. Like Alex's one is a good size too. But when you have writting in HUGE coloured font like is it gets annoying. Especially if there is a few lines of it. It gets even worse if your in a ipod touch or the like.

Just my 2 cents worth ;)
