i got a phone call from my mother thismorning regarding her jeep ever since she bought it its idled rough changed gear even rougher and thismorning she fixed it... would you believe it was caused by the radiator not having enough water (leaking hose )... im sure most of you have come across similar car troubles caused by stupid things

Years ago I had a car with a similar problem. a leaking heater hose that sprayed water onto the distributor causing the engine to run like a chaff cutter. the hole was tiny so the jet of water was missed by me for quite a while until the hose finally let go.

Stupid things? Like my sisters eViL crumbledoor that wouldn't rev above 4000 rpm, ever? Seems she cleaned out the airbox, and finding she'd bought the wrong airfilter, stuck the old one back in. Upside down. Whenever the engine got to 4000 rpm, ther filter collapsed on itself and choked it. Lift off, and it idled fine. Big clue was the otherwise useless power gauge which went off the dial, moments before the engine died.

Many many years ago when i first started riding bikes I took my 3 month old Kawasaki in to the dealer because it was running like a bucket of snot - dealer fixed it by turning the choke off .........

And on the same bike in front of the Friday night revhead pack in Perth (anybody remember bog laps ??) I went to take off and kept stalling it no matter how many revs or how much clutch slip. A bystander leaned in and put my stand up, thus resetting the automatic kill switch preventing you from riding off with your stand down......
