Playstation 3 trouble

Post by RSR 555 » Sat Jan 21, 2012 10:02 pm

Any brainy geeks out there?

I have the original PS3 with 80gb Hard Disk and today the kiddies went to turn it on and the green light comes on and the tv shows that the HDMI cable is connected but that's it

I have tried turning it off and on a few times and no joy.

What I have noticed is when the light is on and I press the PS button on the controller, the 4 red LEDs continue to flash (normally goes to position 1) and nothing else.

Please help as they are driving me crazy.. I now know what Jules felt like :(

Yep a geeky kid right here. lol

First off when you try and turn it on do so with the controller connected to the device.
Second, if that doesn't do anything disconnect it from the power (the actual PS3) and let it sit for 20mins or so... drains the power out. Then try turning it back on.

If nothing else the a reset may need doing.

So it is turning on fine? No flashing lights on the PS3? No clicking or loud humming sounds?

turn it off at the switch then back on and hold down the power button and it resets the graphics

How?

Turns on as per normal, green light appears, fan starts and tv screen goes from 'No Connection' (when tv input is set to HDMI) to 'No Signal'

No clicking or humming sounds and HDD light only flashes orange once.

Ok, tried this and no change. I did however get a message which said t plug in the controller and press the PS button, which I did and got a menu that had 5 options on it. I have since tried all 5 (number 4 said it would format the HDD but I thought what the heck.. can't use it now so might as well reformat) and number 5 needed update 4 or better, which I downloaded (off the Sony site) and followed the instructions. Still not working

I didn't see anything about resetting the graphics? Did I miss something?

What next please?
