Couple of years ago it was reported that a male driver was pulled over by a policeman in Tullamarine.

Male received fine for a traffic violation, $140.

Policeman returned to his vehicle.

Male driver donned his flouro vest and approached policeman.

The driver explained he was a Worksafe inspector for the State Government...then promptly gave the policeman a fine around $800.

The policeman didnt wear his own flouro vest which was mandatory.

Haha it's all in mm now, the only Imperial stuff at work is a massive ancient old English radial arm drill and a few Micrometers in the back of the cupboard, behind all the metric micrometers

So 1 thou is .02mm, does two tenths = .01mm?

At the moment I grind my blocks to within +/- .005mm on a good day and the grinder behaves. But that's grinding, I dunno how you'd go machining to those tolerances :???:

i did machining back in my apprenticeship days tho it was a big machine that i gave it intrustuctions and pressed a big green button it was deadly accurate tho it was all computerised

it is cheating the old school way is much more fun just isnt as quick as the computer way the machine takes 20mins tops have to ask how did this go from speeding ticket to machining ?
