Found this on ebay. Ridiculous!
Roof top seat for end of world "best view"
Personally I'd be out bush in the subi with my family doing what I enjoy most. But I highly doubt that anything is going to change on the 21st of December.
Cheers

This is a ripper:
http://au.news.yahoo.com/a/-/odd/156718 ... an-temple/
Once at the heart of a conquering civilization in its own right, the ancient city of Tikal (where George Lucas used to film the planet Yavin 4 in the movie "Star Wars," from where Skywalker and Han Solo launched their attack on the Galactic Empire's giant space station) is now a pilgrimage site for both hard-core Star Wars fans and enthusiasts of Maya culture eager to discover what exactly the modern interpretations of old lore portend.
Some classic quotes:
"If it is the end of the world, hopefully Luke will come and blow up that Death Star,"
"The force is strong here,"
"Something big is going to happen," said the president of Guatemala's Star Wars fan club, entrepreneur Ricardo Alejos. "
The Maya were an incredibly precise people. Something big is going to happen and we'll find out what in a few days." Except for the fact they didnt include leap years
"Park guards said they had to throw out 13 naked women who were dancing and chanting around a fire pit near the temples last week"... seriously?? Talk bout spoiling the party! They should've joined in!!

The Mayan calender supposedly had no leap years and ran to 360 days, so we have a while to wait yet or has the world already ended and we missed it...
Just when both my cars are running really well.

I was given a 2011 calendar in December 2010 after a friends return to CA.
It claims the event to occur on 20.12.2012 followed by a restart of the b'ak'tun cycle on the 21st December
They used a mesoamerican calendar. It is a prediction - a bit like a weather forecast. Bit like asking Sir Lennox Walker to give you a weather forecast 5,000 years away
See most of you in the restart

Why bother? Go camping with your own deck chair. When nothing happens enjoy the rest of the weekend in the best place on earth... That'd be my game plan if I really thought something was going to happen!

Well it is the 21st and I'm still here not sure where everyone else is...
I bet the young couple in Perth who spent 20000 dollars on food for the end of the world feel really good today... or is it tomorrow, as it is still the 20th in the USA and everything revolves around the USA... just ask them

Yep, so the 22nd here lol
Seriously folks, it wont be for another ~3yrs.
The Mayans didnt include leap years

, so they're out by 1 day per 4yrs. If they did the calendar approx 4000 (?) yrs ago then thats ~1000 days...3 yrs!

I think it's the other way around??? It was 3yrs ago and we didn't even realise it... Their years were 360 days long, so even worse...
Geeezzz, I reckon the world ended before I was even born!!!
Better duck out to the shops and buy some more beer just in case

Really, it doesn't matter - it's not going to happen!
If it's "really" going to end it'll be a life changer - probably for the better, when ever it happens. Like a solar flare that knocks out all power grids/cars/trucks - anything with a live circuit. Then watch life change! Subi Gods forbid - the internet shuts down and we can't access the internet and the forum. I know I'd be going cold turkey
The Mayans probably got bored with making their calendar that was so far ahead it's just not funny! I mean, we only print up next year's calendar at the most! Who's got a 2020 calendar let alone a calendar for 4010 or whatever??
Or the Mayan department of calendar etching lost it's funding and thus stopped their operations around 2012 or 2007... pick a year around now...
Who knows, who cares? Someone's done a great job of justifying their job!
Cheers

5350 odd years think it was so need a recalculation again. And as some have pointed out they may have not seen their own demise coming prior to this calcualtion result

That's my motto in life whenever it comes to something completely over-hyped, like this event, viral ads, shock jocks, football
