Considering trip to the BBQ....

Im giving some serious thought to possibly driving over East to this years BYB bbq and was just wanting to see who would be able to put me up for a night or so and where they are located.
Obviously trying to keep costs down and nothing beats having a nice warm shower in a clean house rather than at a smelly caravan park.
Post in here with any suggestions or anything while i still consider making the trip.
Tim is also thinking about it. We would be heading from Perth to Brisbane-ish area via the ACT. Looking at heading along the bottom of Australia.

We got plenty of room here, it wouldn't hurt to bring an air bed or something otherwise you and Tim can fight over or share the spare bed, I'll let you 2 work that one out
Amy said if you kill hatchie before you get here you'll be sleeping outside

if you two are passing through sydney, you're more than welcome to bunk up here

(you can have your own beds here, not trying to outdo BVCP!)
I'm about 100km(ish) away form BVCP, so it'll have to mean that you either stay at his or mine... just an extra option for you lads

Fighting over a bed should be interesting.... Tim is bigger than me...no surprise there.... but i can duck and weave.
Hatchie shouldn't die... and if it did there would be no way i would cintinue without it... i would push it there if i had to.
Thanks for the replys fellas.

Thanks heaps guys! Dave and me are still planning the itinery, even at this stage the journey isn't 100% certain, but it does look good.
I've got a helluva lot of work to do before I go. First and foremost I have an EA82 - EJ20G conversion to do, a 4" BYB lift kit to install, heaps of other minor work on the car and of course saving for the $2000 odd it's going to cost in fuel.
Can't wait though
On a side note, are there any NSW/ACT people thinking of going up north with us? It'd be cool if our convoy got larger as we went

Sydney to Bris is a big day trip, if you guys leave about 4 am Friday before I'll pick up the convoy at Coffs. Its about 12 hours, maybe a bit less now the Pacific highway is good from Sydney to Port Macquarie

Really? Sydney to Brissy in 1 day? I'd have thought two, but if its 12 hours thats doable in a day.
Hows this for an idea Dave: Perth to ACT area in 4 days as we discussed, spend a day in ACT/NSW (perhaps one night in Robertson and one in Sydney) then on up to QLD, BBQ, and spend the next 7 or 8 days mozying back over to WA. Might need a day in WA before going back to work (recovery) but it sounds doable in 2 weeks.
Just gotta let it sink in that for 90% of those two weeks you'll be driving - might wanna try score a comfy drivers seat for Hatchie...

Certainly do-able, Chubby's last trip was 11 hours from Robo to brisbane.

yep 10- 11 hours if you only stop for fuel and 1 quick bite, would be from bundaberg to sydney in 2 days with a good night out in byron and about 4 hours sleep

would it be cheating if you did one leg across the continent on the train ?
I'm told driving one way is enough
just loctite every nut and bolt for the train trip

His current liberty, although it didn't have any plates on it, just a temp permit, so it may have let him get away with not quite doing the speed limit

Yeah, Sydney to my place is easily doable in a day. Megan and I flew to Sydney one morning to pick up our daughters car and we were back at home by 7pm the same day.
Plenty of camp/bunk options once you get here too.

LOL @ Jindabyne. Went up there in my recent ACT trip, don't think I'll take my Subaru up there! Lovely country, but salted roads!
Sydney - Brett's sounds like a goer to me. We'll have to chat about it some more Dave.
