"Holden" Hummer H3

What do you think of the Hummer H3? Is it a genuine big 4x4 which this country needs? Is it a trade from GM USA to Oz for the Monaro? Is it a load of crap designed to boost Holdens sales and thus GMs empire in general? Is it cool?
What are your thoughts of the H3 soon-to-be delivered to this great country?

Personally i believe they epitomise many global issues that this world faces. They are big, obnoxious, gas guzzling miliatary derived tanks built for wanker egomaniacs who believe more is better. Sure if you live way out in the sticks and have five kids and a dog then a hummer is a luxurious option but if you compare it to the modern turbo diesels coming out of Japan and Europe with comparable price tags they can appear plain offensive.
There history is saturated in the bullshit rhetoric that is associated with american miliatry imperialism (hummer is based on miliatary hummvy) and global capitalism and buying one makes you look like there are subconcious issues in your life that you feel you need to justify, penis size could be one but the list goes on.
Too many new cars are sold in this world and GM is not helping by bringing hummers to the great southern land.

yeh i agree with that julian.
also theyre gonna have to spend more money on our roads coz a hummer is just too wide for our streets-hello more head on collisions.
hummers suck
also this will make the most odd looking HSV in the fleet

since i started the topic, i feel obligated to give my opinion.
given that theyre big and obnoxious fag trucks, i've got a soft spot for their potential in gangsterville. if you can dig it. one thing is for sure, this injection of it WILL feed more into holden, and thus into the economy (i spose). either that or people will see that there isn't any point in sticking something so stupid into australia. we're trying to get stupid things out (germaine greer was a success). the H3 is shorter than the landcruiser... but its wider? no point!
subi.... HAHAHAHA.

89rs the movie is of a H2. perhaps GM Holden would have beefed all that stuff up to 'cope' with Australian terrain?
not that it'd touch dirt. ever

i beleive thats the same movie i already posted 89rs
id only get one for the gangsta look-dumped on like 28" chromies- but the driveability of the car would make me get rid of it.

then again...
whats the point of having a 'soft-roader'? itd be for the same reasons as having a hummer wouldn't it?
info on hummer H3:
230mm wider than a 100 series 'cruiser, yet a considerable length shorter.
5 cylinder 3.7L Petrol, a claimed 180kw and 328Nm of torque.
Low range gearing - 45:1 overall first gear, BUT can be purchase with an off-road suspension package, which comes with a 68.9:1 in first gear.
It can cross 610mm high water crossings, climb 407mm vertical steps, and can "make its way through deep sand and race over sandy surfaces".
I'd just like to say... WHAT THE HELL!? It's over 2.1 tonnes!
Holden says there will be a turbo-diesel variant closer to the release date, mid-2007.

They forgot to add:
Sinks like a rock!... probabily with a nice "KA-Plunk!" sound
.

"Oooooh honey some sand, lets be rugged and adventurous!"
"Sweety, thats my brothers driveway."
"Oh, we'll, lets drive over it anyway"
"Oh... shit... It appears that we're stuck"
"... but its 3 inches deep!"
"precisely".

I don’t see them as practical or useful at all (less ur maybe in the army and need to carry troops and equipment and have no inclosed or narrow tracks to drive down). Not to mention the high price and sheer size of them!!! Plus the fact ud have to take out a loan every time you would want to fill it up. Biggest id go is an old F100 bout it for me!

4MUFF, we already have something to carry troops and equipment. its called a landcruiser troopcarrier, funnily enough. AND it's got way more 4wd ability than the H3 (which is shorter and fatter. doors like 200mm thick). Actually, 3.7L 5cyl doesn't sound too bad to me for fuel. You'd have stupidly low power because of it's weight, but driven properly it'd have better economy than a patrol 4.5L 6cyl I wager.
The car might even end up being good. Matter of fact, now the only thing I hate about it, is its concept. "Another Big 4x4 to pollute the freaking highways with more traffic". Damn footy mums. (soccer mom is a term used to describe mothers of AMERICA, hence MOM. Soccer mom is another bloody saying stolen BY australia FROM america.)

I reckon the GM hummer is NOT all that succesful in the way the US military uses them, as a pretend front line armoured car - considering so many get killed in them.
So GM is pushing its production line onto the retail market....somehow I don't think shopping malls here will reconfigure their parking lots just to satisfy GM.(god i hope not! stuff em!)
The vehicle is just way too wide!!

HMMWVs are great at what they're designed to do - they're the same width as an M1A Abrams tank and they're tough as nails, they're perfect for hooning around the desert.
H2 and H3 are just ugly bodies on midsize GM Chassis.
Anyone notice that the USMC are moving away from Hummers for G-wagens (ie IFAV)? Hopefully the ADF will swap their Land Rovers for them too.
