yep. the lazy little shit doest want to go for walks. try everyday and the past two days he's just sat on the drivewaya and not moved... managed to get him 50m down the street today but that took about 5 mins. he doesnt get excited like normal dogs... his tail is between his legs like he's scared etc etc etc... so does anyone have any suggestions???
tried taking treats, favourite toys etc etc but still nothing. also not sure if he's wearing himself out during the day, he loved playing with a 2L coke bottle, goes for hours.
anything i can do or am i bound to have a lazy overweight dog?

cut his tail off. that'd stop it from hanging between his legs.
all incredibly stupid and cruel jokes aside. how did he get to be in such a state? did he just keep eating the more you fed him, so you thought he needed the food and gave him more? or did you give him the same amount of food twice a day normally, and he ended up not exercising?
apart from the diet, some persistence with the exercise is always an option. actually, get a cat, see if he'll chase it?
p.s. he's a cute little bastard isn't he?

the eukanuba pack has a guide to how much he should be eating judging by his age and weight. should be 4 cups a day. i give him 2 cups in the morning but come home to a full bowl, then i mix the mince rice and veggies in and he scoffs that down and leaves the biscuits... i know this means he doesnt like them but if we feed him other stuff he'll grow too fast and get joint problems later on.... so its not a problem of him eating heaps and not burning it off, he doesnt eat bugger all wont exercise.
i just have to get him to eat his dinner and breakkie. we've been taking him walking on a daily basis for about a month and ive only had trouble the past 2 days. want to put a stop (or start) to it now before he knows if he sits and doesnt move he gets to go back inside...
also would like to know how to make him like the beach/water... he's got a clam sheel pool and he plays in that but doesnt like swimming at the beach.
this is my first ever dog and considering he's gonna be 60kg plus i gotta do it right first time.

lol, i know exactly, we have a staffy who likes to give us the eye if we dont take her for walks..puts us under pressure...lol...
we give our dog eukanuba too, she doesnt actually like it much, and will leave it on occasions. There must be something wrong, most dogs love going walks, especially if theyre couped in the backyard all day.

if ya want him to swim ya just have to keep tring hey use a ball and throw it out or carry him out in water hey...he will get used to it...we take our dogs to beach all the time they love it hey....they swim in our pool too they just walk in down the stairs in the pool they just love water...you just have to keep tring and he will work it out and just reward him heaps when he does what ya want...

I know it sounds cruel, but if he wont eat the biscuits, he is being fussy.
Leave the biscuits in his bowl and let him get hungry. When he wants to eat, he will.
My mum bought a work puppy (kelpie X border collie) and when she brought it home it wouldnt eat dry dog food, only took a couple of days and now she eats nothing but dry dogfood.
As for tail between legs, and wont go for walks,.... another dog down the street hasnt given him a dusting has it?

he got a small nip on the nose by an old dog that didnt want to play when my mrs walked him. didnt hurt him and was a yonks ago. he's been walking fine since then though. just the past couple he's been a turd. ill get him back on the biscuits only and see if it makes a difference

mix the other stuff up with the canned food, don't just drop it onto the top. that way he'll get full quicker.
