Thermite is cool stuff but not to be ****ed with. Depending on the source of iron in the oxide (Fe3+ or Fe2+) temperatures can exceed 2500 degrees C and emit huge amounts of UV/visible/IR radiation. Adding water or ice can (as these videos show) lead to an explosion. Any adelaide residents might see such reactions in the city at the moment where the contractors for the tram constructions going on are using it to join the tracks. Wild video, I haven't seen that stuff for ages.
