I am thinking of adding a cruise control unit to my excel.

Does anyone know where I could get one and how much it will cost?

And has anyone ever put one in?

supercheap and repco and such all sell a generic kit for about $200 (I think)

add kmart and autobarn, autopro too . the command auto group design and make most of the different ones on the market - a different one for each retailer. they are in Sydney and are bloody helpful if/when you get stuck. make sure you buy one of theirs. AP50 at kmart, AP 60 at autobarn.
