Good tunes

Post by 4xsama » Thu Sep 06, 2007 10:41 pm

Anyone got any good tunes lately

I should quantify good (for me anyway)
JJJ music, Massive Attack, Aphex Twin, Radiohead, Portishead, Peeping Tom. Bit of a 'how long is a piece of string' Q but I think worth a shot for brainstorming.

I like the new song "Online" from Brad Paisley. Even my kids are singing it.

Brad Paisley fans! Wow I thought I was the only one!!!
(Generally I'm not a country fan, but Brad's stuff is awesome! And the guy can shread too!)

But apart from that I'm hanging out for tomorrow when Pretender comes out as a single by (The one the only) FOO FIGHTERS!!! YEAH!!! Then on the 22nd, the new album comes out! (Can you tell I'm excited?)

Apart from the FOO, I'm always listening to Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance. (I know it's emo as all hell...but it rocks too!)

Looking at ur list...do you like GoldFrapp?

Yeah I had a couple of CMC cd's on the trip. There were a couple of female artists that sounded good too but I don't know who they are. I had to keep asking Jim.
Other ones I like not mensioned - Tim McGraw, Keith Urban, Road Hammers, Kenny Chesney etc etc
I also have stuff like Good Charlotte, Simple Plan and plenty of old classic rock tunes
I'd like to get hold of Luke O'shae's record listen to the words too. Its got some good tracks but I've never seen it in a shop.

if your into the indi rock type stuff and you want an album you can tap your foot to the whole damn thing, i highly suggest the Fratellis. Their songs are starting to appear on ads on foxtel and JJJ has played a few, mainly Chelsea Dagger and Creepin Up the Back Stairs. They are a scottish group but they're absolutely awesome.

Here's a quote from sanity.com.au
The highly anticipated debut from hotly-tipped Glasgow triothe Fratellis couples frantic, riff laden contemporary rockwith references to 70's punk and stripped down acoustic numbers. Recorded In Los Angeles and produced by Tony Hoffer (Beck, Supergrass), 'Costello Music' is amongst the most talked about indie albums of 2006. Includes the singles 'Henrietta' and 'Chelsea Dagger'.

Dig the Foo's. I'm afraid country's not my bag. The old man's got a fantastic Aussie Bush Poetry CD though. Funny too.

I'll give the Fratellis a go. Not 100% on what qualifies as emo but I'd be confident there is one of two emo style cd's in the rack.

Anything with a fat, sorry phat, beat is good.

When we camped out at Longreach they had a Bush Poet there for the evenings entertainment, some of his stuff was pretty funny, and he also had the "benfit" of Mick being a clown behind him while he was orating

MY dad and Grandfather were poets, Bruce and Barney Roberts... Google?

I'm not really into indie rock/pop but i can recommend
QOTSA, Era Vulgaris - Experimental weird kinda Rock (Eagles of Death Metal).
and
The White Stripes, Icky Thump - Still the white stripes but a lot heavier and fuzzier then earlier stuff.
