Hey wanna watch your youtube videos in a better resolution? Try this out, I found it on another forum,

Take the original, for example:

http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=RVgf4F5CkTg

and add either &fmt=18 for high-ish def. or &fmt=6 for highest def.

http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=RVgf4F5CkTg&fmt=18

Have a look at the two, notice the massive difference in resolution!

P.S. make sure your adobe flash is up to date properly.

i see no difference.....all tho i tried another video and did full screen to see the 'full effects'

must be my adobe flash isn't up to date then

time to look into that

and on another note. i saw on a vid once a little link that said something bout higher quality :???:

and also. how can they improve quality on a video which was uploaded in a very poor quality already?

yeh, it definitely works, if it doesn't then your doing something wrong.

The videos are uploaded in better quality already, youtube just play them in a highly compressed format by default so they work better for a wider range of people (people with pov-pack internet accounts). Putting the extra code in just allows it to play at slightly higher res. Obviously it will take a bit long to buffer because it uses more bandwidth.
It won't work for all videos and others might not yield a noticeable difference but it's worked fairly well for me so far on most videos.

I dont think it works when you view clips in their little windows embedded in this thread....try them opened separately in a different browser window when you get videos up straight from youtube.com

I'm guessing the first one is the better quality video? seems like the clarity is a bit better.
Good find.

haha well it works perfectly for me and thousands of other people.

It's the bottom one which looks better (the one with &fmt=18 at the end of the link). As I said, it probably doesn't work when you click on the examples embedded in this thread, you have to do it to videos you are watching directly from the youtube website.
