Facebook gets you back in contact with your mates from back in the day. Sporting clubs, primary school, high school, uni etc etc Maybe friends that have since moved away, even overseas. Online groups, networking for new jobs, entertaining games. That and the fact that you get to control who sees how much of your profile. Facebook isn't really a blog, more of a contact point.
There is only one thing you must do in your life. Everything else is a choice.

I got on myspace because of overseas friends, but I don use it anymore to much bad music in profiles, spam posts and kids trying to get 100000000 friends.

Facebook is better, pretty much everyone I know overseas use it which makes it handy. The amount of chain messages going around is annoying, as is all the applications I get invited to. I have caught up with a few old school friends on it which has been good.

I think I answered a question that wasn't asked :)

I still prefer emails

Myspace just drinks your bandwidth and screws up every one else on the network. Facebook is cleaner, smoother, faster but the advert tricks still piss me off. Its bad to trick people into clicking adverts, better to have adverts which interest people. But I guess the guy knew what he was doing with facebook because after all he made 1.6billion on it or something to that figure..

Damn billionaire 23yo.

good on him, hope he enjoys it.

Have to remember that Facebook is funded by the CIA. What better way to keep track of crims and people of interest. There was a big write-up in the canberra times about it...pretty scary when you think about it.
