It is interesting that the federal government provides a single refugee with a monthly allowance of $1,890.00 and each can also get an additional $580.00 in social assistance for a total of $2,470.00.
A single pensioner who, after contributing to the growth and development of Australia for 40 to 50 years, receives only a monthly maximum of $1,012.00 in old age pension and Guaranteed Income Supplement.
Maybe our pensioners should apply as refugees!
Let's send this to all Australians so we can all be ticked off and maybe we can get the refugees cut back to $1,012.00 and the pensioners up to $2,470.00 and enjoy some of the money we were forced to submit to the Government over the last 40 or 50 years.
Please forward to every Australian to expose what our elected politicians are doing - to the over-taxed Australian
cant blame the milky bar kid but mabe he can help my mum and others live more comfortably

I agree somewhat, however I don't really agree with posting this sort of thing in the middle of a Subaru chat forum. It really belongs in one of those chain email letters. Somebody move it to Open Slather at the very least.

"Only in Australia" - I was expecting to see someone had engineered a 253 into an L or MY, not some stuff about pensions.
Still a good point though - Just in the wrong place... That's plain rediculous (the money difference AND amount).
Cheers

If it is true then it is 100% wrong. As already said, our pensioners should be looked after.

Not a thread of truth in it at all. Thoroughly covered in the popular media.

my brief search didn't come up with anything specific to refugees......
still there is a general opinion they get it real good these days....and ungratefull at times......
not like it was for the immigrants/refugees after WWII from '45-'60 - told where to go and find employment basically, the only support was subsidized housing in hostels, crude iron roofed huts basically.

What about them trying to do paid
Maternity Leave. They already get a baby bonus when they have the child.
Sorry, but no one paid for me to leave work and have kids, I have NO intention of paying extra tax to cover cost of another woman getting it.
They need to budget for children before bringing them into their lives. Thought needs to be taken before having kids.
Not happy Jan...
