Who's looking for a project? L Royale, MY Sedan + Coupe & '74 Wagon

Post by subabooba » Wed Sep 04, 2013 11:32 am

Hi Guys,

After sitting on these for quite a while, it's clear I don't have time to do much with them, so I might as well move them on to someone looking for a project or parts. The L Series you could probably get road worthy and drive ok with a small amount of work.

All the cars have been out in the weather for a while so not in the greatest condition. I've taken photos of all the 'bad' things about each to try and paint an accurate picture.

Located in Bendigo, Victoria

Open to offers on all of these, would really appreciate thoughts on what people think each is worth?

'89 L Series Royale - 5 speed manual and MPFI EA82 which should be good as it was replaced a few months before the car was no long driven. Looks like it has a bit of surface rust on the roof, not sure how bad it is but there's a pic below of that. All the Royale goodies including full electrics, air conditioning etc.

I reckon it will run fine and probably doesn't need a lot to be roadworthy and quite driveable, but will confirm it runs ok tomorrow, as it hasn't been started for a couple of years. Once that's confirmed will put a price on it.

'82 MY Sedan - $500 - GL, so has a 5 speed with the EA81. I had a little time the other day so started this one up, it's sat for ages but still went, that's a scooby for you! :) Had a bloke who wanted the motor but haven't heard back from him after telling him i got it running, that's actually what prompted me to sell the lot.

'82 GLF - $350 - it's done over 300,000ks but was running well until parked. The hardest one to sell, still love the coupes! :)

'74 wagon - $350 - quite a rare FWD (not 4WD) wagon with drums all 'round. Guys at local Scooby dealer were surprised because they thought they all had disks on the front. Again been parked for ages but like the others might be a good restoration project for someone with the time.

I'm up in Sydney and these are all at my parents palace in Bendigo, I can organise times with them for anyone who wants to check the cars out or they can take any additional photos you're after.

Let me know if you have any other questions in the comments or you can message/call me on the number below, often can't answer during the day but leave a message and I can get back to you in the evenings.

I noticed if you're using Tapatalk the links to the pics don't show but if you check on a browser you'll see them.

Too many projects already! Would love the '74 Wagon but it does look like it has the infamous cowl rust from the interior shot (mould/moss on the floor)... :-(

These are rare because in 1975 the 4WD version was released and sales of the 2WD basically ceased overnight.

Even the 4WD versions originally had drum brakes at the front - they were called duo-servo and actually perform well compared to the disc system (when working correctly!). It was the revised 4WD wagon for '76 that finally got discs.

Hmmm... Just realised the cars are in Bendigo... Would love to have look!

I'm in the same boat, too many projects, not enough dosh ... :(

Unfortunately most early model Subi's aren't worth a lot, especially so if there not in good condition ... ;)

I already have a '76 4wd wagon - ( after a front windscreen for it ) ... :)

May also be interested in the GLF - so how much are you asking for it ? Got any engine shots ?

Cheers, Bantum ...

Thanks for the info sublime, didn't realise that! Yeah it's a pity I didn't have somewhere to keep it under cover... hindsight...

I've added a few more pics my old man just took of the Wagon since a couple of people have been interested. Shows the worst of the problems on it.

No probs if you want to take a look. I wish I was down there, I'd love to see your GSR and/or RX Turbo!! :)

I've added more pics my old man just took this afternoon and added prices for them all except the L series - will see if it runs ok, I think it will, but want to make sure, think it will make a difference to what it's worth as it's probably not far off just getting tidied up and road worthy.

Got my old man to take a look, he reckons no mould but it is damp under the mat so some water getting in somewhere.

Although this is a 1973 'Clam Shell' (twin rear doors rather than one piece hatch - never sold in Australia) it does show how that '74 Wagon could look:

Yes it is known as an 'Ugly' but in my eyes it is still beautiful! :D

The hatch means the Station wagon Ugly was only available for one year prior to the 4WD version being released in Australia.

MY sedan and the GLF sold pending pickup.

Wagon still available and has been started up and runs well!

The L-series I think I'll register and maybe keep it there for when I'm around, unless someone is really keen on it.

Lee can you message / email me.

I'm overseas (and don't have my Australian phone with me) at the moment and just realised you're probably trying to get in touch about the wagon. If you give me an email address I'll give you my old mans Mobile so you can organise things.
