Late 85 and compliance in 87.. I can't see that happening. Usually only takes about 3 months.

Yeah, tell me and the Subie parts manager about it being hard to believe. Fwog confirmed its birth month was sept 85, think he even had the name of the ship it came over on. Was not easy ordering some things for it as an 87 model
Back in the day when a basic VL turbo Commode SL was $17.100 - an RX was what ? $22,995 , how much extra for AC and auto in the turbo sedan ? Subaru were offering 4000 points to sell an RX, 8000 for a Vortex - I guess a GLTA was somewhere in between, and slow to sell.
That is something else I forgot to grab before the shell was towed away.
Still have the VIN somewhere, comp date on rego papers .....

Oh.. you talking Sold date or Compliance date? Compliance happens as soon as it gets to Aus, not at sale date. Have you got pics of the dash?

I'm after a right hand Royal tail light.

Well, Willy, I can help you with that need if the Royale is the early model tail lights, think it is as they got the efi about same time as Vortex NA did ?
Paul, compliance plate date, stamped on the CP as 3/87
The VIN JF2AC7BROBF606xxx
so, it sat about in Japan for a while before it came to our shores, or bounced around a few docks until someone ordered it in, maybe it even got a second plate issued in 3/87 ?
You would not be pleased buying a new 87 plated car to find it was already two years old - unless it was cheap. I got it cheap a few years later
Deep in the bowels of the dash I found a 1991 receipt addressed to a Mosman resident. I wonder if Mrs Lee was the first owner and knew anything ?
Pic above, dash went to bin, switches saved but on offer to Gannon ATM

Nah Royales were From 88 on I think (one of my Royales is 88 build and the other 89). Tail lights are tinted. Like this one.

Note the one in the pic should have a colour coded bumper.

Similar story to my RX, seems the RX Turbos (or GLTAs) bound for Oz spent some time sitting around before being complianced.
I remember some time ago reading that the bodyshells were assembled prior to the cars actually being completed... But I cannot remember the details now.
This may explain the apparent discrepancy between the build and compliance dates.
