Venom's on the ball with the EJ20G halfcut route if you're going for drifting this will give you the greatest option on adding performance as you see you need it.

If you're smart about it you could possibly build this for certification and road registration later down the track when you can legally drive it on the road - food for thought ;)

Now that you've made this decision - what's going to be the daily drive?

Cheers

It is the designation for the first series of most
Single Turbo EJ20.

Some in Canada for example had models without
intercoolers and also in 2.2L

If you plan on a drifter, this adaptor and EJ conversion will destroy the 4 speed gearbox in no time!

The turbo setup would be the ideal way to go for a drifting machine. Do some research and see what you reckon though.

I've also been onto AndrewT about this today (the broken record is here), you might want to look at using a dedicated rear wheel drive gearbox that is readily available. There's a W series toyota transmission adaptor that will be available if the guy is on schedule as he says. You'd need the throw out bearing kit and the gear shifter locator kit as well. I reckon he'll be asking $500US all up. Good time with the Oz dollars strength at the moment. Something to look into though. You would need to work out a gearbox crossmember to make it fit and the tailshaft would need to be sorted as well.

Go the turbo, its factory, everything is there, including a manual gearbox and factory wiring. Al at Amauto would be able to cut the wiring down for you...

Cheers

Have you looked at the twin turbo link I posted above? This is the one that H-top is talking about being $999.00 on ebay. He's obsessed with twins, turbo or otherwise.

If you check out the link and have a look at the photos you'll see what you get - which is everything forward of the front seats to the front bumper as per the photos.

The only extra costs I could see are:

Wiring loom cut down (amauto.com - al does a very good job from what I've seen)
high pressure fuel pump and EFI tubing to upgrade the fuel system. Might want a larger return fuel line too.

Other than that its just your work. Also you'll get half of your crossbred gear in that halfcut - brake booster, front struts/hubs/brakes - just need the Gen1 backing plates then the rear brakes you want to run with + the extra bits that come in the crossbred kit ;)

Cheers

Any of that could happen if you're going to drift it through the rear wheels - apart from stripping teeth off the CVs, you'll more than likely blow some CVs if they're not new and not good quality units - as a drifter you should expect to be replacing wear items such as CVs. Also grab a couple of rear diffs and extra output stubs when you can, I've seen these snapped in pics of offroad subi's - ask the WA guys, a few of them have snapped them with welded diffs offroad...

Cheers

oh yeah fair enough , just a matter of luck sorta thing i guess, so ive enquired about the ej20 twin turbo motor, will it still be a straight forward conversion ? except when i get my headers, get turbo ones, when i get fuel pump get a high powered one, and whats the go with getting the wiring loom cut down ? why do i have to do that ?? how much roughly ?

Remember, the Moment you brake something is the
moment you get traction or fail to brake traction...
Or trying break traction, before the failing....

So in summary, once you get those wheels spinning...
Don't stop!

But in all seriousness. Things will break, sometimes
even under low loads as it could be an age thing with
continual punishment or just the perfect storm
of wrong conditions for a given part.

I broke blew second gear on the main shaft after having
my new libbo 2 weeks. And being realistic it is not a
large amount of power to go through the box.
It was just age and bad timing.

Be prepared.

And yes el freddo. Me loves twins :) and all things
boosted :)
