subarubrumby wrote:oh yeah fair enough , just a matter of luck sorta thing i guess, so ive enquired about the ej20 twin turbo motor, will it still be a straight forward conversion ? except when i get my headers, get turbo ones, when i get fuel pump get a high powered one, and whats the go with getting the wiring loom cut down ? why do i have to do that ?? how much roughly ?
Do a forum search on the topic. Come to think of it I don't know of anyone who's dropped the twins into a brumby before. But there will be information on what you need to do in general for an EJ conversion...

Parts might also be more expensive for the turbo, but the performance for your drifting I think you'll find is worth it.

High pressure fuel pump - a VN 5 litre external pump or VL turbo external pump will do the job, then upgrade all the rubber lines to the EFI rated fuel line.

The turbo headers will already be on the halfcut, you'll just need to have an exaust made up to join up to the conversion's exhaust. There will be info on a good exhaust setup for the twins on here or have a go on USMB for some info.

Ahh you have seen the light. Should make 4x the power of the ea81 no probs.

There has been plenty of twins put in brumbys. I remember one called turbo squid that was on this forum not sure what ever happened to that though.

I would suggest running a bosch 044, They are much higher rated than a vl pump and don't cost much more. You should also run a return line and surge tank. Some people get away without a surge tank but this would not be a good idea for drifting. If the tank is not full you will suck some air which is bad news for a high pressure efi system. You can get generic tanks of ebay. You will also need a lift pump (to the surge tank) but you can probably get away with the brumby pump for this one.

just so you understand the fuel goes from the main tank to the lift pump to surge tank (with return line to main tank) Then the efi pump runs from the surge tank to engine then return line back to the surge tank.

yeah ive got a 2.5L surge tank, bosch 044 fuel pump on my ebay list, and trying to find some 36psi or high fuel line, only have a few questions....
whats the go with the turbos ? they are mounted down below i believe ? will this get in my way and require modifcation ? or will it be exactly like doing the ej20 NA conversion ? also whats the story with cutting the wiring loom down ? who ? why ? how much will cost ? cheers boys :)

dont these motors require the chassis rails to be widened?

if you have already lost your license you will lose it again guaranteed. I can see this car being crushed in the upcoming years ;)

wow 500hp what should be getting close to awd drifting territory, Considering he started with 80, 300 ish should be enough

Chassis will need to be notched for heads (not required for ej22) and crossmember will need to be modified for turbo up pipes (they sit behind the heads). This will not be a problem if it is a track only car. If done properly they can still be registered in qld.

The min fuel pressure is 36psi, I have seen my fuel rail hit 60+psi.

yeah this is a track car guys so not going on the road whatso ever ! so wont lose license, and 500HP thats crazy, considering you can drift a NA skyline rb30 with a heavy duty clutch no motor work required, but not sure if you know i will be drifting a tight track not a large one. sounds like a lil bit to much work 78sti... might just go the ej22NA or maybe a turbo, depends if i can find a good deal.

Alex, read the thread - especially the parts you haven't already read... Might make more sense about what he's going to do with it now.

Cheers
