Hey Phil,

I been trying to draw this up in SketchUp, but the drawing you gave me doesn't seem to add up ... ;)

So I want to confirm that 14" ( 355.6 mm ) is the diameter of 'seat' for tyre, width of spoke is 63.7 mm and that center hole is 93.1 mm ... ?

Image

Add : Ok - I think I have worked out what's going on - the copy has made the join @ spoke edge with a continuous ring - where as the original is just welded strait on it ... :/

The ring would make it stronger - but changes the look a bit ( which was throwing me until I figured it out ) Do you still want this ring ?

Cheers, Bantum ...

The ring is in the centre so it can be fully welded not just in 5 spots to increase load capacity. I don`t think it changes it all that much but i think it will handle conditions alot better. It will be harder to bend one and less chance of structural deformaty but am pushing hard for the best warranty that`s why we are trying to make the strongest wheel we can in an affordable price range. You get what you pay for. The centre hole is 93.1mm +/-.1/.2mm to allow for powdercoat. And all other measurements have been taken from 3 different scorpion rims so they will be as close as possible.

OK - here it is ... ( Note : I have also posted it on 3d Warehouse - but they have been playing 'update' games so may not work there yet )

Add : Link here : 'Scorpion' Wheel

I've done it as per original ( welded directly ) will also try it the other way with a ring - still think it doesn't look as good that way ... :(

P.S. - Are we calling it a 'Scorpion' copy rim ?

They certainly look good in cad form but would like to see the dreaded 'ring' view as well before final judgement/commitment.

As for names....Scorpion 2's, Phinels, MYwheels (as opposed to iWheels, as they are for 'MY's lol), Bantums,

Pleiades (the star cluster in Subaru's emblem, for those not in the know) Kalbarri's, or maybe for overseas markets....MVious rims.

Phinels sound cool, or something with an Aussie identity in them if they are going overseas like "Aussie Roo's" "Hard Yakkas" yeahhhh gotta get me a set of hard yakkas, lol.

Ok - I've finally manage to get the damn thing to upload a file to 3D Warehouse - so you can now download & play with it ... :) .... ( See link in previous post above )

Do note that I wouldn't rely on it being accurate for production purposes, but it should be good enough to get an idea of what it looks like ... ;)

Nelis / Bantum Rims ?

They are in production and are about 2 months away. Don`t ask for a price yet as we haven`t finalised all cost details yet. Colours are still up in the air, don`t have to decide yet. We`ll see how the 14`s go before we decide on a 15`` or not. production costs might stuff it .

Awesome! Did you go with the ring around the five spokes or the same as the original scorpions?

I'll be keen to see what they look like and what price they're available for.

Where are they being made?

Don't want to seem pushy, but it's time to resurrect this thread since it's almost July!

Any updates? Or better still, any PICS?

Anyone else had a look yet. RSR555 has already made contact and is looking at shipping some to W.A when he gets back from work.
