ej25 for 1st generation of outback

picked myself up an outback but needs a new engine.. does anyone have an ej25 for the 1st generation of outback 96-mid 98 (single over head cams i believe) before i go pay the hefty wreckers prices..... hit me up via pm

Aren't they the quad cam motors ? Gen 3 Outback (the second generation of Outbacks 98-03) are SOHC.

DOHC? Gen 2 Outback 1994-1998 are DOHC.
Gen 3 Outback 1998-2004 are SOHC.
