WTB: Subaru Vortex 4 speed auto tail shaft

Post by Brettski » Wed Jul 13, 2016 6:20 pm

Hi all,
Its been a while since i posted on here but im in desperate need of help from someone on here, if anyone can that is. I need a replacement tail shaft to suit a 1989 Subaru Vortex XT AWD 4 speed automatic. Must be for the 4 speed auto transmission. I know not many of these made it into Australia and even fewer are left but im hoping that someone may have done a manual swap and is wrecking a complete vehicle and would have one of these they are willing to sell. Thanks for looking.

Hey mate, have you looked into having your current one refurbished?

I know of a place in Shepparton here that will replace the uni joints if that's the issue. I'm sure there would be a place near you that could do the same job. I've seen L series tail shafts fitted with a replaceable uni joint from an 80's Holden or Mitsubishi, can't remember exactly.

I hope this helps even if its a last resort.

Cheers

Hi Bennie,
Thanks for the reply but unfortunately that wont be possible in this case as i don't have a shaft to begin with. So i'm sure you can understand my dilemma better now.

That makes sense!

Last resort would be to have a full custom job made. I'd guess that would be near the $600 mark - key word there is GUESS ;)

All the best with it. Keep us updated ;)

Cheers
