EA82 manuals

Post by NightHawk » Wed Feb 27, 2013 7:41 am

Does anyone have the complete service manual for 1989 EA82 (GL, DL)?

I only have a partial manual that is missing chapters that I need. I also have step-by-step timing belt instructions if anyone need that.

I found an online version that was missing chapters.
I have a paper version of the L series MY85 manual that I am keeping. Is there something specific you wish to know?

There's a connection failure to the fuel pump in my suby and I'm looking for a harness diagram to be able to trace the wires properly.

Does anyone have the hitachi carburetor manual pages in digital form? Those pages are missing from my copy. :)

Same problem as in February - harness connection ? There is an electrical section of the paper manuals that may be more useful. Saudi Arabia & Australia got different systems to the rest of the world :( . We got a Float Chamber Valve that runs off a thermo sensor just screwed onto a bracket witht he sensor part exposed to engine bay temps , above a set temp the system would vent off pressure building up in the float chamber to assist easier starting in hot conditions - we might not be the best to sourcing info from :)

Can you give a bit more on what you are chasing presently please ?

Well the acceleration is very uneven and I guessing it has something to do with air/fuel ratio. If I push too hard on the pedal it chokes and no acceleration occurs, so I have to ease into a high throttle. I wan't to spend some time finding the sweetspot where it runs as good as it can. Maybe there are some vacuum problems, well maybe there are alot of things wrong with it, but I go to start somewhere :P

an accelerator plunger seal can cause this - need to pull air box off with engine off to see if a quick depress of pedal or cable pull squirts fuel inside the at the venturi innards quickly to spray or does it dribble. Does your secondary butterfly have a vacuum unit control it ?

It looks like all vacuum, I'll check it out this weekend as it's always dark when i'm not working.

Chokes at high throttle... fuel filter perhaps?

In cold start I have to smooth it out with a few revs and when I'm driving in low rpm and push the pedal too hard nothing happens really. I have to pull back and then ease it inn to overcome that threshold. After it's warmed up, it is alot better but still some hesitation. Problem is it's always cold here :P

Oh, and the fuel filter and fuel pump I replaced recently because it wasn't running at all. So I guess that rules it out. I read about negative pressure in the fuel tank. Is that what that little piece before the fuel pump is for?
