Have tried to fix a few more pages on the wiki. It I think needs the admins to password protect this wiki. There is some good info here being trashed and therefore lost to the rest of the group. I might have a look at trying to copy the good stuff to my harddrive so that we have a clean copy.

Well it looks like we are going to lose the Subby Manual. I have tried repairing it but it still gets hacked. I have given up on doing that as I seem to be the only one that cared. So I suggest the Admins (if there are any) close it down.

Stephen I brought this up a while ago, I don't think it is a person I believe it is a trojan/virus/program that writes a script once it realises the text has been changed. It was probably put in place by someone who doesn't even have to come to the page to make sure the script is working.

if all of the remaining information was transfered to the tech manual section on the board it would be unhackable.

I do believe there are updates available for the wiki progam to stop this but it is up to the person hosting the wiki to put these in place.

Hopefully someone with admin privileges needs to fix the problem. There is nothing I ,as a humble member, can do to fix it. So it seems we will see this info just disappear.

well it seems that the Tech Manual is going the way of the dinosaurs. A few times I have tried to fix it. Not having it password protected, and the software not being updated is were the problem is. I have decided not to try and fix it any more, pointless if the admins of the site don't want to protect this valuable resource why should I spend my time trying to. The info is still there if someone has the patients to extract it and turn it in forum posts.
But it seems the owners of the site are not worried.

Well it seems the tech manual has gone. What a waste of the time and effort of the people that contributed to this endevour. If only the admins had managed to protect it a bit better.

and before these error codes it was pretty messed up in there. As Jonno said above, it's a shame it's ended up this way, but those spammers got in there and shot it all up...

Sadly if one of the active members had administrator rights to the tech manual this could be repaired.

There's nothing sad about that... Why not get something on the go?

Otherwise I might have to put my hand up to sort out a fix up of the tech manual - my wife will love to hear this!!

Cheers

You need to have administrative rights on the tech manual page to get the ball rolling.

which means getting in touch with either Stinky or the wiki admins and after a recent coversation with wikapedea I'm not in the mood.

EDIT after some mucking around with the internet wayback machine (no Joke) the information for the page is still cached

Wow nice find TOONGA! :p The link wasn't working when I first joined so I've never seen this.

*Edit* Ah, just found it's not all there though. Still pretty helpful

yeah it is just a cached snapshot of the url

this one from 2009 seems to be the last good shot before the page started to get hacked by people advertising penis pumps etc.

http://web.archive.org/web/200905010019 ... =Main_Page

anyone care to spend a day copying and pasting this to word or powerpoint?

Stumbled across this thread whilst being keen to read up on a wiki during a slow day at work.
I notice this wiki is still down, is there another re-built somewhere or are we still relying on the web.archive to supply us?

While the archive is good it doesn't allow expansion and improvement of information?
I copied all the info I could retrieve from the archives and found it takes 78 pages in a word document to fill! ;)

The final question to all is, is there another suba-wiki out there or are we stumped, and, would everyone here consider it a good thing if I were to re-make a wiki from the ashes of the old one so we could get it all up and running again?

tl;dr - Would it be good if I rebuilt the wiki? - I plan to make it user editable and updateable, but also moderatable too.

Cheers,
- Jay-Jay

I would love to see it back-up and well organised, if that was achieved I would upload a full scan of the 1985-1992 L & XT series parts catalog...

Nice.

Sounds like a good reason to do it to me! Time to collaborate all the skills and info here!

I figured it would be a good way to organise a heap of information and get me to read a lot and maybe learn something too. The more I read these threads the more fun it all is.

After some drinks at the pub I'll get it happening tonight at home. ;)

New Wiki ...

Um - Sorry to say some of the old stuff is a goneski, although what could be revered from the original tech manual has now been translated to a new wiki page ... ausubaru.wikidot.com

Although it still has a lot of bits missing, I'm hoping to re-populate it with your assistance here ( although not a lot appears to be happening atm ) so have left it as is for now ...

You're welcome to add to it if deemed necessary ... :)

Cheers, Bantum ...
