L Series wag rear coils in sedan

Post by steptoe » Thu Jan 21, 2010 8:40 pm

I am gonna write my own just in case the past eleven pages do not state it.

I fitted rear springs and shocks from my 87 touring wagon into the rear of my GLTM sedan. Whoops. after a ride the extra 60mm settled to 40mm measured at the middle of rear bumper.

The springs in the shock are same length but measure 10.8mm for wagz and 10.3? for sedan coils 'wire' thickness. As this was originally air suspension - the coils are not original to this car so came off something - fwd sedan ?

Toook it over a favourite suspension test bump at 60 kph and it failed.

I also found the knocking noise in the left rear of the wagon - in the right rear of my sedan!

Also found the rubber bump stop inside the coils missing on RHS coising my NOISE. Also the rubber coated washer at the bottom of LHS moustache bar was half not there - another source of metallic noise
