Need new CV shafts, suggestions?

Post by H-top » Sun May 23, 2010 11:06 am

G'day

I need new rear CV shafts as mine have to much play
and knock on acceleration.
A lot of advertising I've seen says that their L Series
shafts do not suit 5spd Turbo?

I've been led to believe that all suspension parts for
L Series are the same besides spring hights?

All help would be great.

Also I understand that I probably would not need
the whole shaft but I'd rather replace it all.

The only real difference with turbo ones is the stub axels on the gearbox are 25 spline instead of 23 spline.
Any EFI model should be 25 spline anyway, not just turbo ones. 23 spline is normally just for carby wagons (most common).

I would recommend going to Alan's CV Joint in Ozzy park. CV's are all they do and I've never had issues with their gear but know plenty of people who've had problems with the Chinese stuff available at Malz, Repco, Conv's etc.

**edit - whoops, was thinking you were in WA for some reason. I'm sure theres a reputable CV joint specialist local to you somewhere who can steer you in the right direction!
