Front strut mount differences: Gen 3 & Gen 4 Outbacks.

Does anyone know the actual differences between the front strut top mounts for the Gen 3 & Gen 4 Outbacks?
Apparently there is a minor difference which makes the Whiteline adjustable strut tops for the Gen 3 incompatible with the Gen 4. :(

if I can determine the actual differences, I can see if it would actually be feasible to fit the tops under my 1" aluminium (Subtlesolutions) strut top blocks. :mrgreen:

Enlightenment on this point would be very much appreciated.:-D

Apparently the tops of the springs, and hence the spring perches, are different.
