G'day thelman,

The model needs to be something like 87 to maybe 93-94... The strut should look like this when its taken out. If you're at a wreckers with some L's there take your spring compressors with you and build up an L series strut in the yard - this is what I did when I got mine.

Stock L on the left, stock honda on the right.

L strut with honda sping mounted, L series spring, stock honda strut.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Ah ha, what sort of Honda Bennie? I have just come in from looking at cutting 70mm off me spare coils, actually less , so I can hit the end with an oxy to tuck it in under to come in at 70mm off - as a temporary measure to allow water to drain away properly from z boot.

not possible bennie, all the l rears are gone. That pic is of an accord, but right next to it was a 70's civic with the same springs. All the other hondas there had torsion bars on the front

G'day thelman,

I am in the same boat as you atm. You want 86 -89 accord or 88 - 91 civic and possibly 88 -91 predlude (not too sure on that one). I wish i had of know this earlier as i recently got a pair of springs from a 92 civic and they did not fit.

Cheers, Matt

If you are after new ones, the King spring part number is KHFS-58:)

old springs might be worn out and not that much better anyway.
Brand newies are not that expensive.

You need the springs from this series of Honda - prelude, civic, accord to name a few will have the same springs - dunno about the ratings between the models though. This is a prelude:

Why bother with new springs - they'll be over priced for sure! I'm certain that a used set of front springs from these vehicles are all that is needed. Even if there's a little bit of sag from age it will still be a marked improvement over the factory L or aftermarket replacements in height and load carrying capacity, these springs were originally intended to carry the weight of the engine and gearbox, I'm sure the L's rear end isn't anywhere near this heavy! Plus I paid $40 for springs and struts TOTAL. Cheap and an awesome mod!

To answer your initial question theLman - yes this spring pictured (stole yours ) is the one you're after!

I stand corrected...$181.50 is the RRP for those ones! No doubt they could be had cheaper with a bit of shopping around and bargaining, but still, that's way more than I was expecting.
I'm pretty sure I paid something like 80 bucks for the last pair of L series rears I bought!

So long as secondhand ones out of a wrecked Honda are relatively low kms, I'd probably go that route too now in light of that pricing :)

I think you'll find that these springs and the 2wd shocks will make the rear end of the L sit way too high! But there's one way to find out!

KHFS-58 The Front 2 Coils HONDA CIVIC 1987-1993..WILL FIT

KHFS-54 Coil Spring Front 2 Coils HONDA ACCORD 1985-1989 WILL NOT FITT!! 75mm Diameter

so i was talking to king springs today about the civic springs compared to the standard kings for the L wagon. he gave me this info...

(civic) KHFS-58 Diameter=65mm, Hieght=380mm, 11turns

(Lseries) KSRS-03* Diameter=65mm, Hieght=280mm, 9.5turns

he said the KSRS-03* would actually be stiffer because 9.5turns is stiffer than 11turns..

i asked him twice to make sure i didnt miss hear him but thats what he said!

can anyone shed some light on this?

i also plan to have the civic springs with 2wd stuts in the rear has anyone done this?

i will have raised springs in the front and brumby adjustable struts to level it all out hopefully...
