How much clearance Does your Suby have???

Hi guys,

Just thought we could all put some details of how much ground clearance we each have on our cars, maybe include what mods and tyres the car has etc and maybe include some pics. so we can compare but also help people.

Anyway, mines has a 2inch liftkit with 3inch front and back strut tops. New 2wdKYB shocks and honda springs, KHFS-58, The front is a Liberty shock with a HD raised outback spring, KSFR-32SP (too hard lol) Might go for a longer forester or outback strut but with a normal king spring:p Wheels are 215/65/16. Also have a front bash plate and a rear diff plate.

On the front i've got, from the lowest point of the bash plate, 252mm

On the rear, from the lowest point of the diff plate i've got 236mm

Mine is 270 to the diff bash plate but only 200 to the front though I have 25mm front spacers coming so hopefully 225 but that's under the gear box end of the plate where it's lowest and if I was running your size tyres which I will be next time it would bring it up a further 16mm so now only

F 200mm
R 270mm

Soon
F 225mm
R 270mm

When I fit new tyres
F 240mm
R 285mm.

I have raised heavy duty Dobinson springs with 1" (25mm) Subtle Solution lift blocks and new rear KYB Forester SF struts.

I also have 215/70R15 Geolander AT-S tyres (All-Terrain) and slightly larger than stock.

All up I have 2.5" (70mm) higher than stock at my lowest point. Now due to my new unequal length headers though I have 220mm at the front lowest point, the sumpguard as I have modified it to sit abit lower to allow for the new headers. With my stock headers I had about 255mm at the front sumpguard which was the lowest point under the whole car.
Everything is raised 70mm as I didn't want to go the body only lift root just yet.

At the rear diff I have something stupid like 330mm or more. Can't remember....

If I do more it will be 2" full body lift ontop of what I have. because at the moment the approach and departure angle need improving abit and the body scrapes abit. Some more clearance betwwen that and the drivetrain would be nice but for now 2.5" makes a huge difference.

Hummm, seems that the newer factory EJseries cars have higher rears.

2inch lift kit body blocks all around the car and 3inch strut top blocks on the suspension.

this is actually pretty interesting, good to have others to compare to.

mine is 1" strut top at the front, basically made out of chopping board plastic, and 1 1/2" on the back that myself and a mate put together when we wanted to learn how to weld. + a set of 14 wheels and tyres. so nothing special, but i never thought it lacked in actual clearance. just the car doesn't sit as high as some others.

min clearance: 245mm, but this was measured on a slight slope so i suspect it is more like 240.

i could go another 10mm on tyres, but i donts see the point while i still have the EA, its just loss of torque.

Just to shamelessly use this picture again

I have 260mm at the sump and 270 mm at the diff. thats with a 2 inch lift kit. One day I will put the sump guard back on. if I put the mx5 springs back in ( took them out as I like my kidneys) it would be closer to 300mm at the diff.

eventually I would like to go to 3 inch all round

It means you need to go and measure your clearance, then report back here.

I'm going to add the details of my subi, even though they're probably already well known here and I'm going to add front and rear departure heights on a relatively flat surface, I hope others do the same.

Ruby Scoo:

L series, 3 inch lift all round with exception of the 2 inch blocks on the radius rod/gearbox crossmember plate. Honda civic front springs on the rear end, part number unknown, 27 inch diametre tyres.

Entry height: bottom of roo bar 410mm,
Front lowest point: exhaust Y pipe under the engine crossmember (lowest point up front

) 230mm,
Rear lowest point: under rear diff 235mm
Departure height: lowest point on towbar 440mm

I'll see if i can measure from the points you guys are going from tomorrow.. but all i know atm is the rear end of my L is higher than guyphs atm, judging by his reactions when he measured it, it wont be for long..
