Lifting a liberty with outback and forester bits
Lifting a liberty with outback and forester bits
Hi guys,
Just wanting to make sure.
Are all the early forester and outback front struts 1inch higher?
What about the legacy imports and the GT's?
Also what about the rear shocks?
Finally, The rear lower arm bracket that pushes the wheel back, do i need only the bracket or do i need the arms too? Does only the outback suit or could i use the bracket from a forester?
This is for a friend to lift his car:) might be useful to others:)
Thx

No and Yes.. you are talking 2 different models in the one question. Foresters are available in Turbo and Non-Turbo, so there is a difference in strut heights there. Turbo model are standard height, so you'll need to get struts from a Non-Turbo Forester if you're waiting to have a Suspension Lift. As for the Outback (and this only refers to Outbacks and not Libertys) they all have higher suspension struts.
Again you are classing 2 or 3 models here. Legacy is what Libertys are called around the world (due to the Legacy Foundation in Australia) and with that, they all are standard height suspension. Legacy (or Liberty for this matter) come in GT models, thus meaning they are Grand Tourers and come complete with a turbo, so no lifted suspension. Foresters also are available in the GT range but again these also have turbos, so you'll work that one out.guyph_01 wrote:What about the legacy imports and the GT's?
What about them? Are they all the same? You'll need to explain more as to what model but I can tell you if it's Turbo, it's standard height and if it's Non-Turbo it will be higher. Remember a Liberty (or Legacy) can come non-turbo without lifted/raised suspension too. You'll really need to ask which model.guyph_01 wrote:Also what about the rear shocks?
The mounting bracket is all you need (not the arm) but most places will sell them complete. I need to double check on the Forester but believe this to be the case also. I don't have a turbo foz to compare against at the moment, I will check when one comes into the shop.guyph_01 wrote:Finally, The rear lower arm bracket that pushes the wheel back, do i need only the bracket or do i need the arms too? You know you are getting old when the candles on your birthday cake start to cost more than the cake itself.

25"!!! Crikey that is one big lift...over 2 feet!Venom wrote:Going into what year liberty? Use Gen2 Outback (96-9 struts for front and rear, both are 25"" or so taller. If its going into a Gen1 Lib then use the Gen1 strut tops on the Gen2 struts.
You only need the bracket, the arm is the same. No idea if a forester bracket works.
