struts for 91 Liberty Wagon

Post by cinders » Sat Apr 23, 2011 7:00 pm

G'day all.
Got a 91 Liberty Wagaon (is that gen 1?) with dodgy airbags.
I've already spent a couple of grand in the past on the air suspension, but as much as I love the comfort and the adjustable height, IT'S TIME TO GO!!!

What I want to do is replace it with conventional struts (I know ..... I'm no pioneer), BUT, what I would like to know from you knowledgeable folk is, which other models use interchangeable struts?

I was at Deer Park wreckers the other day and they had a later model (later than my 91 Liberty) Outback that looked very similar suspension wise.
But if someone could furnish me with years and models of what would fit I would really appreciate it.

yeah its all bolt on, You can use the early forester shocks too. But sometimes the strut top are bigger in the outbacks and forester and don't fit. Those shocks will also raise the car about an 1 to 1-1/2.

as said above you can use the outback suspension as it is basically the same except you will probably get about an inch lift with it, so bonus!!!

Avoid L series like the plague, nothing suspension wise will fit - the only good thing on the L series for a liberty is the low range - but that's a gearbox build that you want to know what your'e doing, or have a good enough idea to understand the process!
