Brumby pulls to the left

Brumby pulls to the left

My latest addition a 92 Brumby is pulling to the left.
I replaced an inner TR rack end cause one of them had a bit of slop.
Then got a wheel alignment done.
But she still pulls to the left, it feals like I have done nothing to fix it and just put some money into the car and got noting in return.

The bloke at the steering joint suggested that the top of a strut could be twisting but I don't realy know what he means.
Any suggestions welcome.

Shagged ball joint can hold a position so if you steered to left and starightened up it tries to stick lft. Or, in the MY they have a bush at the top in the top mount is rubber, tight fit on the strut shaft that comes throught it to nut at top under the cap. The rubber can bind on shaft and there are those sintered bronze washers that are designed to work as a bearing to allow turning and back again. L Series actually have a bearing in same spot instead of washers. Soak some CRC or btter Lanotec down in top cap

sounds exactly what may be happening. Have sprayed some silicion spray down the cap, see if it frees up.

Just a thought, are both brake caliper pistons ok?

I think so, under hard braking or any braking it tracks straight enough. But I will take more notice next time.

I did have to put SH pads in cause the previous owner had damaged the pads on LHS when the wheel/hub came off, the cause was stripped shaft/nut threads from not doing them up tight and it flogged out. I have fitted the matching pair of pads to the RHS as well.

steptoe do you mean lower ball joints or TRE ball joints.
It does favor a LH pull after a LH turn but is not so predominate after a RH turn.

meant only ball joint BJ257 on ya only control arm outer end.

I sort of wouldn't have though silicone spray would do anything in this case, but, it is rubber involved !

Lower ball joint then. Will try to have a better look IF it ever stops raining. Fark I hate the amout of rain we get.

try another set of tyres. If you use tyres for an extended period with a bad alignment, they will wear and deform slightly and will do exactly as you have described. I'm guessing you'd have a few spares you could try....

That is easy to do, thanks. Yes I have another full set of freshly 2K painted rims and fairly new tyres sitting in the shed.
Might be in Townville early July for work. Would be good to have a look at ya Brumby If I get the chance.

if you have powersteer check the rack does not slide between clamps and crossmember.

Turning the top the the strut tower may fix it as that changes ur caster and will cause ur problems. Some wheel aligners only look at camber and toe...

I am confused as I thought the top was fixed and non adjustable.

OH Steptoe I check the ball joints and they apear fine.

I have and l series it has 3 bolt holes so 3 different settings for ur strut tower angle. Makes a hell of a difference. Are ur ties scrubbing out on the edges?

That throws more light on things, knew of these markings, guessed the arrows pointed in direction of travel - most of it understandable, I was confused with PS - thought it was passenger side, passing side :D

Any pics of the VAN ??
