Installing king springs and KYB shocks on my 05 outback

Guys,

I recently got some raised king springs and front KYB shocks for my 05 outback, and am keen to get them installed.
I’d like to give this job a go myself, to learn more about the car.
I’ve never done this job before and have limited mechanic skills, so before I start work, I’d like to ask a few Q’s.
1. Firstly, will raised springs work on the rear, if I have Self Levelling shocks? I saw a recent post that suggested otherwise. My understanding is different, but it wouldn’t be the first time I have been wrong…..
2. what are steps I have to go through to change the springs and shocks out (apart from “ 1. jack up car and remove wheel” )
3. what special tools do I need (if any) apart from spanners and socket set
4. what things should I inspect for wear & damage whilst rummaging around in there…..

I really appreciate any assistance
cheers

1. I thought it could be done, as long as you changed the strut to the non self levelling type, which is what your doing anyway right?

2. Mark the camber bolt on the front so you can put it back to around the same before you take it to get an actual alignment.
In the back you need to pull up the last bit of floor (right behind the back seats) to get to the nuts.

3. A vice, good spring compressors (especially with raised springs....), breaker bar, rattle gun to make everything 10 times quicker.

4. CV Boots, brake pads and rotors, your rear of the front control arm bush.

alignment: stay away from generic tyre shops. go to someone reputable like pedders who will do a proper alignment

Can't see any point in starting a new thread, so thought I'd re-activate this one.
Does anything else need replacing - for example, are the spring perches the same for self levelling and 'regular' struts. (Both versions were available, depending on model, for the 05 Outback.)

No 05 Outback owners on lately with knowledge of what this involves?

The top hats are the same with or without self levelling.
