Can the front struts on a L series be rebuilt?
If so, is there anyone in Perth who does.
Or shall I stop being a t.a. and just bite the bullet and buy new ones.

As a rule, no. Just buy new KYBs.

I dont think there is one out there, it would be better/safer if you get new ones.

For the unsafe answer, take them out and see if they are a hydraulic type rather than gas.

On my corolla the front use fluid and you can top the fluid back up to the right level. In the old 1800 wagon manuals it actually had exactly to the mL how far to top up the fluid.

So if its a liquid based one, yes you can rebuild it. However, KYB's arent really that expensive and make a HUGE difference. I only just put them in at the rear on my L series and it drives heaps smoother. Once i get cash together i'll definitely be changing the fronts to.
