self adjusting suspension

so i have a 97 forester and want to know were to look to figure out if i have self adjusting rear suspension or not.

im wanting to put a little spring lift in and have noticed 35mm (about a inch yeah?) springs online. has anyone else done this? what other suspension from other models fit?

afaik they are a air assisted shockabsorber, basically a pump-up shockie. look at rear shocks for airline connected

My outback has them, and it looks like there is a compartment at the bottom of the shocky

so if my shock looks like a normal shock then i should be rady to just swap some springs in.

and if there is either an extra part hanging off the bottom or a air valve (of some sort) i'll need to replace the shocks for normal rears.
