L SEDAN rear suspension - no bump stops!
CRUNCH !! All i did was shove 107 kilos of batteries in the boot, go over mild bump and rear suspension bottoms out with a metalic CRUNCH. Std height. So that's why you guys go lifting these babies!

(A) Thalass would be proud of me
, only if I was going electric
(B) Trying to replicate a good load to find the CRUNCH
(C) Cruised past a hopper after a neighbouring tenant had done a clean up, then done a runner and noticed a battery or five. Scrap price below 100kg 41.5 cents per kilo, above 100kg it's 47.5 / kg. An old aquaintance used to collect a tonne for a better price again.
answer is (C). C for cashing in , paid for half my radiator service today

So what happened to the rubber bump stops that are on the shock?
Or has someone removed these at some point (they also deteriorate & fall off)?

Are the dust covers for the rear shocks sitting up the top of the shock shaft, or down the bottom.
If they're at the bottom, the bump stops have detoriorated.

Well,well.... the Monroe Wylies fitted do not even have a shred of a bump stop fitted. I'd say whoever fitted them had no idea or care. They were only six years old when i bought the beast. A spare original shock has a crusty, crumbly old bump stop and I reckon just a few old shock rubbers will do the job. Thanks for the heads up on this one.
Bobbyjimmy , Capital Steering in Wishfyck was once Fulcrum if that helps

Bump stops
I ise hilux bump stops at the drags. requires a 10mm hole to be drilled in the lower arm and a small piece of box section applied to the body of the car(bolt or mig glue lol) bit extreme for your application though lol

And it took me more than two months to get around to the task. Found a rubber coated moustache bar washer also missing some rubber - possible cause of another noise. Fixed that. Found the shock not as good this side as the other, then went on to find wagon springs shoot arse another 40mm skyward and too bouncy, and a shock that I kept was not worth keeping. Wagon springs going to scrap too
