Bent strut!! :(

Post by longy99gt » Wed Sep 08, 2010 9:47 pm

hey guys,
after noticing my tire was worn on the inside dramatically, and only 2 months old, i noticed the front drivers side tire was on a massive angle, :(
so i got it looked at and they reckon my strut is looking like a banana...
not a bad effort i guess...
anyway,

i can get a replacement strut, no hassles,
but i've heard the forester struts in the GT are shorter than the N/A models?
for a more sporty look and performance etc?
is this true?
and can i then just find some N/A struts instead? giving me lift?
i currently have the 2" blocks,
and will be putting in lifted h/d king springs too....about 10-20mm ish?
but, wouldnt mind putting in the longer struts too? if thats possible?

I know the early Outbacks had different struts but looking at that KYB website, there appears to be no differences in the Forester models :???:

If you're keen, have a look around on offroadsubarus.com for what Kevin (?) there did to get longer and stronger struts into his Forester. I seem to recall it wasn't a cheap exercise though.

well i can get raised king springs in for 600 bux all around, giving me a lift, aswell as being stiffer will let it sit hgher aswell,
but was wondering about the struts???
i'll keep hunting and see what turns up, i'll try these leads, and see how i go,

i do know for a fact the GT's were lower than the NA's,
but not 100% sure exactly where they lowered them? wasnt by much tho, not even 20mm???
i guess struts or spring would be a logical option? we'll find out...
cheers lads
