Suspension lift M.Y?

Post by TheInterceptor » Sat Dec 25, 2010 9:12 pm

Hey all,

Might be a stupid question but im wondering how high (if at all) can you lift an M.Y before the CV's start to destroy themselves quickly?

I'd get a 2 inch body lift but sourcing the extra bits that need to be fitted are a bit of a pain...(can anyone help me with that?)

Shame they have IFS/IRS....

Cheers.

The back joints are usually near bulletproof and can go to nearly any height the front you can do around 25mm but you will do inner joints more regularly..... Read my brumby has an extra 75mm of suspension travel in the front. Talk to Steve from Rising Sun Subaru as he does up custom front struts.

Cheers Matt. How often is regular haha.

Think ill go the body lift instead. Dont want to keep replacing joint's but then i'll have to extend the steering linkage and brake lines and gearstick, fuel filler neck..........

Like lets say every 10k km instead of 15k km maybe, it is hard to say. Also you don't need to replace gearstick (unless it is like a 6 inch lift) and fuel filler. May need to extend fuel lines to engine but depends on height of lift.

Look at buying one it will more then likely be cheaper and easier then making on especially if you don't know what to do. There is a couple of companies that do them.

Oh yeh im goingto be buying one, but the kit only includes the lift blocks (as far as i know) hence why im asking what has to be corrected once the lift goes in. :)

with the 2in body lift you will need to do the following.... extend brake hoses, and steering, lightly massage your tank, 4wd selector rod and inner guard (if you have ac), exhaust needs a slighly differnt angle to get past the diff hanger too. thats about all i can think of. if there is more im sure some one here will know.

Wow kilo you went all out. I remember installing a 2 inch lift kit on Subaruby's MY wagon and all we did was put it in and modify one of the blocks to clear the seam of the fuel tank. Been going very well from what I've seen.

The kit should come with a steering extension which is easy to install. I think the radiator hoses didn't need any modifications and we didn't do any for the AC either.

Richard will tell you more. I know he needed to replace the gear selector bushes as he had trouble getting reverse and second after the lift went in.

Cheers
