liberty control arm bushes

Post by Alex » Wed Mar 16, 2011 12:51 pm

Hey guys,

i need to replace the big bush in my front drivers side control arm. Its the rear bush of the control arm (if that makes sense)

Has anyone replaced them before? Do they need to be pressed out?

The stock unit is oil filled, is it worth upgrading to a nolathane solid bush?

I believe all libs use the same part

Cheers

I don't rate nolathane anything. Go superpro.

I need to do one of mine too.

Please elaborate H-top I'm interested as to why

I used the nolathane red bushes to replace
mine ( 92 liberty ) and I found the nvh went
through the roof ( quite literally ;-) )
The whiteline ones are very nice :-) interesting concept using this one bush to alter suspension geometry.
I alway$ thought the oil filled Subaru items were well thought out and clever for their day

I've dealt with alot of nolathane bushes and
a concerning amount of them are fatigued and
cracked/split in short amounts of time.
Jobs that are almost warranty issues.

I rate superpro, great product. Also superpro
make whiteline's bushes, or atleast used to.

Just my opinion,

Cheers,

Pretty easy from memory I think we did it in an hour - two of us at lunchtime and I think we still had time for a pie :-)

Do you think it's the quality of the material used or are the superpro ones made from a different .....athane ?

Lol perhaps

it may Be just a different Temperature at forming
or a small chemical change.

Either way i've seen loads with excess fatigue
at shorter Intervals than acceptable under non
performance use.

I would not use it if I could avoid it.

But sometimes it comes down to price
and in some cases they beat genuine.

I rate superpro.

Cheers

Access to a hoist and a press? Get the Whiteline Caster bushes #KCA375.
Access to a hoist only? Get a Whiteline ALK #KCA361.
Don't have either? Get whatever you want and pay someone to put them on - the nut that holds the bush and bracket on the rear of the control arm is that effing tight, without a hoist you can't get a decent breaker bar to it.

If you have the money buy WRX ones they are rubber but not liquid filled and have lasted a few good hard hits without issue. Nolathone ones Lasted me less than a Year and lasted in Outback blokes can about a month.

The bushes for Gen3 multi-link rear suspension are not available in Australia
Try http://www.powerflex.co.uk/products/Leg ... 622/1.html

I have used there rear diff bushes (nothing available is aus for gen3) and they seem very good. Took about 1 week to deliver from the uk.
