G'day all

I should probably ask guyph this as he'd probably know.

I've been wondering if you need a special paint to paint springs so that it flex's with the springs compression and extension?

I'm asking this as I'm dreaming up a sleeper to the point that I want the springs and sway bars to be all black so that they don't attract attention as "sports" mods by those in the know.

This is just info gathering and I thought I'd ask. Hopefully this little project that's growing in my head ends up happening

Hazarding a guess here but in this day and age I would say springs are powder coated as it is the easiest way to paint in mass production.

If you are going to paint directly onto the spring paint use an epoxy paint (it comes in cans now)

paints also have a degree of flexibilty in them - just look at the big dings in body panels that have no cracks in the paint. Never seen a repainted coil spring with cracked paint.

Black is not my preferred colour..., I recommend RED or YELLOW:p

I use heat proof paint and caliper paint so that it last the longest...
Or you could use underbody coating or a sound deadener paint that is used to spay under cars.

Thats what i normally use as paint...

rolfe harris advertised british paints it stretched in the eat and shrunk in the cold lmdo give them a ring hahhahahahahaha

Guyph - yes we know. And no, I'm not about to pimp my ride macca's style! But thanks for the colour tips anyway. One crazy almost grey wagon is enough I think
