New struts to replace Coil overs on 01 outback

Post by bandosharper » Fri May 25, 2012 6:47 pm

Hey guys,

Ive recently purchased a 2001 series 2 outback h6 stationwgn.

The previous owner from what it looks like was preping it to be a track car or he just enjoyed pouring money into it. either way it needs some changes.

Hes taken out the factory Auto trans and put in a 97 wrx clutch and box (which im stoked about as they only come in Auto however i think ive done a input shaft bearing or main shaft bearing recently as it sounds like rocks getting shaken around in a tin can when the clutch is let out both driving and idle) (obviously not driving her ATM

The real question is that hes put whiteline adjustable sway bars F+R and adjustable sway bar links on front and adjustable control arms in the Rear, hes also put Tein HA coilovers in and hes put in all 97 wrx control arms in the front too. it looks pretty low so i would imagine the lift kit has been taken out too.

Ive bought the car interstate so all engineering certs have to be re-done in NSW, i figured its probably cheaper and even profitable to remove and sell the aftermarket parts that will have to be engineered -(coilovers,adjustable control arms and sway bar links)

anybody know where i can get some aftermarket or stock struts and control arms and what type that you would recommend for me?

Also will be looking for buyers for whiteline adjustable control arms and tein HA coilovers. photos, prices and model numbers available on request.

any input would be awesome!

I'd check the clutch first, for adjustment, and it may possibly have a twin plate clutch that makes that rattle noise. Otherwise it could be the throw out or input bearing in the clutch. The HD clutch that came with the stock motor and box I swapped into my 98 wrx made a fair bit of noise until it had bedded in too.

If it is the gearbox, try rexnet or rslibertyclub forums, eBay or ichiban for a cheap replacement. Make sure you get / have the matching rear diff ratio too.

Let me know if you do I fact want to sell the teins, I had a set in my wrx and wouldn't mind a set for my brumby.
