I was looking at that thread just the other day Don't like how close the after market mount is to that rear outer CV boot though, looks like it is rubbing as it is.

Here's a new thread so may as well ask this relevant question; The rear torsion bar in the old MY's is the rear spring(s) with the center point adjustable and no doubt where all the spring force goes when you push the wheels upwards, that bolt gets pushed downwards. Here's a mad idea; what if you were to remove the bolt and cut that adjusting arm off, just leaving the cast iron lump in the middle to hold the 2 spring steel bars together...bam! instant sway bar. Then put little coil overs in the wheel arches to get your spring back...I can't think of a reason why this wouldn't work, except the long torsion/sway bar would need some support in the middle to stop it flapping around inside the tube. I would never do this personally, but just a theory Probably some reason it wouldn't work in practice.

I think Jake mounted that sway bar under when it was meant to be above everything - hindsight is a "beautiful" thing!

Modding the torsion bar the way you say won't work. They already twist as it is, I think some sort of spring steel is needed or a higher rigidity steel for a say bar. Really I know nothing of away bar construction.

From what I can gather they can be either hollow or solid & are made from high tensile steel ( not sure of exact composition either ) + the thicker they are, the stronger effect they have ...

A sway bar is just a big spring that resists twisting forces, thicker bar means a stronger spring. The torsion bar in the rear is the rear spring, that's why I thought that idea might work but probably not worth the effort required
