Has anyone had prior success replacing the 6203 bearing in the strut top? Seems to be crimped-in...

hmmm, 6203 I think is the bearing in the front of our non Vortex alternators. These bearings are bonded inside aren't they Nev ? Am only just at the stage of improving an MY bush to L bearing style :)

I have looked at replacing those bearings myself, and yes they do appear to be crimped in. Ended up just replacing the whole strut top with K-mac units. These have a pillow ball arrangement, problem solved and the obvious bonus of camber/caster adjustment!

Thats an interesting idea Fujifan, I wonder are there any more after market options?
Were the Kmac ones a direct fit, or did you have to fudge the 3 holes?

Steptoe, they are pressed in from the bottom, then what looks like a crimped over cap

They were a direct fit. No bodgyness at all was needed. couldn't be easier. Plus you get about 10mm lift on the front because of the design versus the OEM strut tops.
Just not the cheapest option at $480 a pr. But they are nicely made and a fair amount of adjustment is available.

Wish I could go this route, but I'm not confident of their listing for L series, MV/Brumby and MY being the same part :( Also probably not legal here in SA

Why wouldn't they be legal?

Oops I should have said they would need to be signed off by a "chartered professional engineer" after you've filled out a "Application to modify a motor vehicle" form with the relevant bla bla bla only for a cop to pull you over, take one look at them and defect your vehicle on the spot ignoring all your legal paperwork. Yes it happens :(

Like most things
