rear suspension silly idea?

Has anyone ever considered or looked at the feasibility of installing the complete rear suspension, crossmember and diff etc from a liberty or forester to an L series?
Could body mounts be added to the L series to allow this to be done? Or introduce a new custom made crossmember bolting to existing locations of the L series body while providing new fixings for the liberty stuff and simultaneously acting as a lift at the rear?
The logic being that if you do this to the rear and also change to Liberty struts at the front you get bigger brakes, 5 stud wheels and better rear suspension?

stick an L and a lib side by side and get under there with a tape measure... anything is possible!

I thought about it once, but then I actually had a look under a lib. I quickly lost interest.

For what purpose? have you looked at the complexity of the lib readr end compaired to the L?

Ive seen pics of a Vortex on a Toyota chassis, with sloid axles and transfer case..... Anything is possiable with the right amount of time and money.

I suppose starting with a lib is out of the question?
Especially when you can pick them up for a few grand.

ive got a lib here that is not gonna b driven any more the way it is so has any1 actually put a lot of thought into this
cause i want 5 stud and rear brakes aswell

i believe it allows u to use lib front sturts but thats it

Yeah it doesn't offer any upgrade for the rear end suspension wise. This is something I'm going to have to think about for mine too, how to beef up the rear end in the L.

Would the use of a lift kit help in lining up the rear end of the lib to the chassis of the L?
I've thought about the same thing when i saw a lib at the wreckers. Biggest problem is the cross member and the fuel tank (apart from lining up bolt holes etc).
Front end i havn't really looked at but reckon its outta the question too.
As already said, enough time and $$$$, anythings possible.

For the amount of money (engineers reports) and the effort required i cant see the benfit considering as Brumbyrunner has said that Libs arent exactly expensive these days.

Straight to the point, yes, it is a silly idea =)
It might turn out pretty good, but the amount of effort required to pull it off would not be worth it.

front end is totally out of kilter. looked at this idea already. rear mount is no where near any of the mounting points.
