Airbag suspension

Anybody got some information on this.
I understand some models of Lib came with this as standard - which ones?
(I know some L series did too but very very rare).
Also how far up and down do they go? I would assume only pretty minor, perhaps a difference of about 1 inch?
Would there be any way to make them go up and down more?

cheers.

Gen1 Liberty GX and they lifted the car about 30mm but if you are going to use it offroad go the early Outback struts and raised springs for a better setup

Yeah as above.... Gen 1 GX Liberty 4WD wagons, common in manual but never seen in automatic. Normally people just upgrade them to standard spring setup.
I've driven one once and I didnt like it as it felt like a boat.

I dunno about never in automatic. never in FWD is probably a more accurate statement.

I have an auto 4x4 lib that had airbags before the coils went in

the Jap L gt2 s had it. I removed the rest of the system from mine. to my understanding it raised the car 30-35 mm and dropped it that amount over 80kmh.

same behaviour for the libs. automatically drops at 80kph

subydazz is an expert on airbag suspension in libs - hes been tolerating his for longer than anyone i know!

Is it a fair comment the pneumatic suspension is a bit of a gimmick?

no it worked great for what it was designed for - some extra ground clearance when needed in the snow.

yesh so i just bought a gen 1 lib with airbag suspension, just some more clarification on what the button for this actually does.

its pretty clear that when u push it once height wud adjust up, then again and it shud go back down.

maybe i have a problem, but wen i push i cant visibly see any movement?
-i know peddars dealt with the guy i bought it from recently, maybe they stooged him over.

also sometimes when im driving along the up/down arrows both flash for no reason, then goes away wen i switch off and restart the car!!

i love being a noob, help me :p

The indicator flashing for the suspension raising is never a good sign. I had a Liberty with the same fault before I heard about ausubaru. I had the whole system removed from my car. Air bags were leaking, bent struts

Ouch... how do you bend a strut in one of them (how do you bend a strut anyway - not including a "minor" prang with another car)?

im hoping it wont have to be a case of the above, im just taking a prod at what sounds good to me, but maybe if the bags have been removed already, the electrics are just havin a spazz cos nuthins happening...

havnt had a close look yet but is there an easy way to check what type of suspension parts ive got? ie a place to see model #'s etc..

once again, i love being a noob, but lovin learning all about it!

I bought the car with a bent strut, tried to claim it against the compulsory insurance that we paid for with the purchase of the car, no good. $ 2000.00 out of pocket. Put me off Liberty's for ages. Starting to turn now, but am still enjoying the Brumby.

I drive a lib wgn with factory air suspension,no leaks, works perfectly.
You definitely feel it when it goes up,the rear goes up 1st then the front.
When its in the lifted position, there is an orange line that comes on above the car outline on the switch,if u press the button, the arrow will point down and the suspension will go down and stay down unless u press the button.
When u r in the up position and u go over 80kmh,the arrows point down and it goes down. when u hit 50 or less the arrows point up and up she goes!!
When everything works fine they are awesome.
Not sure if u can go higher with them,i'd like to get rid of the 80kmh trigger that makes it go down.

flashing

mine adjusts i think, the lights light up when i push the button and when i hit those speeds.

its just that it still has both up and down lights flashing at the same time for no reason sometimes!

annoying....

any hints? electrical im guessing.

A mate has the flashing lights in his lib, but his airbags are taken out, its just his electricals spazzing out. Get a ruler out and measure the height to be certain if is doing anything.
